Compound Guardian Cancels Third Governance Proposal Tied to Humpy
Compound's Proposal Guardian cancelled Proposal 618 before voting opened, the third cancellation tied to the same proposer since October 7.

Compound's Community Multisig, acting as Proposal Guardian, cancelled Proposal 618 before voting opened, according to a forum post the Guardian published on October 22, 2026. The post states Proposal 618 was "a follow-up to Proposal 613," submitted by the same proposer whose earlier proposals the Guardian had already cancelled, and who the Guardian says "has since been banned from this forum."
The cancellation is the third in a sequence that began on October 7, 2026, when the Guardian cancelled Proposals 612 and 613 less than nine hours after Proposal 612 was queued for execution. In that post, the Guardian said both proposals met at least two of the criteria set out in Proposal 304, later extended by Proposal 538, that trigger the Guardian's cancellation mandate. The Guardian said a single entity controlled the vote on both proposals, with what it described as "all significant For votes" coming from an account referred to as Humpy and delegates "directly tied to him." The Guardian also said the deciding vote on both proposals was 1.75 million COMP cast by a delegate identified as dCOMP, and that without that vote, both proposals would have failed.
The proposer disputed that reasoning in a forum post dated October 8, 2026, arguing the cancellation of Proposal 612 was "unjust." The proposer wrote that Compound's governor contract already controls the Treasury Management Committee contracts as the hard-coded owner of the Treasury Escrow and admin of the Treasury Timelock, and argued the proposal "gave it nothing it could not already take." The proposer also pointed to a timing gap, noting a TMC withdrawal clears in two days while a governance vote takes roughly seven, meaning the contract's existing owner "can never act before the money moves."
In the October 22 post announcing the Proposal 618 cancellation, the Guardian said sending repeated proposals from the same source through a full vote "only prolongs the disruption," and noted the Treasury Management Committee already reviews every EPCF funding request. The Guardian did not name a replacement mechanism for whatever Proposal 618 proposed to change.
The dispute sits within Compound's broader DeFi governance structure, where the Proposal Guardian's cancellation power functions as a check against concentrated voting power, a tension increasingly visible across on-chain governance systems as large token holders accumulate outsized influence over protocol-level votes.
What remains unresolved in the public record is whether the proposer, now banned from the Compound forum, retains any path to resubmit proposals through a different account, and whether delegates tied to Humpy will continue directing votes toward similar funding requests.
