Bitmee CEO Tom Lee confirms Bitmine Adds 7,391 ETH, Nears 5% of Ether Supply
  • Bitmine Immersion Technologies added 7,391 ETH over the past week, lifting its treasury to 5,805,238 ETH, about 4.8% of Ethereum’s total supply.
  • The company’s total crypto, cash, and equity holdings now stand at $11.6 billion, up from $11.3 billion a week earlier.
  • Bitmine has staked more than 5 million of its ETH through its own MAVAN platform, projecting roughly $257 million a year in staking income.

Bitmine Closing In on a 5% Ethereum Supply Target

The latest purchase puts Bitmine’s holdings at about 4.8% of Ethereum’s 120.7 million circulating supply, putting the company 96% of the way toward what it calls its “alchemy of 5%” goal. The buying has continued weekly since Bitmine adopted its Ethereum treasury strategy in June 2025, and the company now holds more ETH than any other corporate entity, ahead of every other public treasury tracking the asset.

Alongside its ETH, Bitmine holds 209 BTC, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, and a $69 million stake in Eightco Holdings, bringing its combined crypto, cash, and equity holdings to $11.6 billion. The company also repurchased 3 million shares of its own stock, BMNR, over the past week, bringing cumulative buybacks to 19.1 million shares under its existing authorization.

This isn’t a story about one company’s ether purchase. It’s about whether steady, weekly accumulation from large holders can keep absorbing supply even as the broader market struggles to hold a clear direction.

Staking Is Now the Bigger Story

More than 5 million of Bitmine’s ETH, roughly 87% of its total holdings, is staked through MAVAN, the company’s own institutional staking platform. Bitmine projects that stake will generate approximately $257 million a year in rewards at current yield levels, income the company can reinvest or use to fund further purchases.

Bitmine’s chairman, Tom Lee, noted that Ethereum outperformed the Nasdaq 100 by roughly 2,500 basis points in July, the widest margin since July 2025, and pointed to that relative strength as one reason the company has kept buying through a period when the CLARITY Act’s path through Congress has grown less certain. The company said it remains focused on accumulation regardless of the bill’s timeline, treating regulatory clarity as a longer term tailwind rather than something its current strategy depends on.

Coinscipher has tracked the broader debate over Ethereum’s staking economics in our coverage of the reward-cut proposal currently splitting developers, a debate that matters directly to a company as dependent on staking income as Bitmine now is. If that proposal advances, it could eventually affect the yield Bitmine’s own staked position generates, even as the company continues adding to its underlying ETH holdings.
