Stablecoin issuer Tether has joined forces with mobile payment app Oobit and the TON Foundation to create a user-friendly crypto payment solution. This collaboration aims to make cryptocurrency payments easier and more accessible for everyone.
Tether recently launched USDT (Tether dollar) and XAUT (Tether gold) on the TON blockchain. This allows users to send USDT directly through Telegram messages and use them for instant crypto Tap payments on Oobit. Over $200 million worth of USDT has already been issued on TON, highlighting its growing adoption.
“We are excited to collaborate with Oobit and the TON Foundation to expand Tether’s utility and promote the adoption of cryptocurrency payments,” said Paolo Ardoino, CEO of Tether. This partnership aims to provide people without access to traditional banking with a way to use cryptocurrencies and participate in the global financial system.
Oobit offers a user-friendly crypto Tap & Pay experience. This means merchants can receive traditional currency (fiat) even when payments are made in USDT. This integration aims to make cryptocurrency a more practical and widely accepted payment option.
The TON blockchain, a decentralized alternative to the internet, plays a key role in this collaboration. With TON’s integration with Telegram, USDT and potentially XAUT could provide a simple way for Telegram’s massive user base to make peer-to-peer (P2P) payments.
“This integration is making cryptocurrency accessible and easy to use,” said Victor Mendes of the TON Foundation. By working together, Tether, Oobit, and TON aim to make cryptocurrencies a part of everyday life for millions of people around the world.
