Blockchain security intelligence firm PeckShield revealed that over 30 incidents of hacking were reported in the crypto space, resulting in losses of $187.29 million. However, about $98.8 million worth of digital assets were recovered. The top five hacks are Munchables, CurioNetwork, PrismaFinance, NFP, and WooFi.
The biggest loss and recovery was from the hack of the NFT token game Munchables on the Blast network. Although the stolen funds were initially estimated to be $62, the Blast network eventually revealed that it recovered $97 million in crypto, which one of its developers had stolen.
In the Prisma Finance incident, $11 million of digital assets were stolen. The Defi protocol suspended operations on its platform on March 28 while investigating the incident. Prisma Finance is negotiating with hackers, who termed the incident a “white hat rescue,” for the return of the stolen assets.
Ethereum-based Curio’s MarketDAO smart contract was the victim of a security breach and reportedly lost $16 million in crypto. However, PeckShield estimates the losses to be $40 million, the second-largest in March 2024.
Security breaches at NFPrompt resulted in hackers draining about $10 million in crypto, while the WooFi decentralized exchange reported a loss of $8.5 million.
